Dearest Danichan, You turned 8 this year. You are still my
baby boy who smiled before he cried and brought so much happiness to our life
ever since then.
Sometimes you will tell me softly “ Not so tight, Amma..I actually don’t like squeeze hugs!”.
“ But I am squeezing you because I love you so much, Dani, I would reply tenderly.

I would then pick you up and hold you like a baby; even though your legs are no longer small enough to fit in my arms. We will look at each other; our hearts leaping with love.
I will then ask you affectionately“ What song does Amma like to sing the most for Danichan?
A winning smile would creep over your face as you have heard this question many times before and already know the answer.
I will sing ‘Danichanaanenne.. Ammede ponnara vava yaaane..’ in my own made up tune as you listen attentively.
Sometimes, you will sing your version of the song for me ‘ Ammayaaanenne.. Dani de ponnara Ammayaane..”.
I will then ask you “ How long do you think I should konjikkal you?. Can I do it even when you are as old as Amma ?”.
You would reply quickly “ That would be so weird, Amma!” .
" How about until you are old to have moustache? I would negotiate.
“That sounds ok!" You would reply slowly after giving it some thought.
You have been my partner in all things I love to do. I can’t
wait to design more pookalams for Onam (that too for 10
days!), make more pine- apple upside down cakes for Thanks giving, Tutti fruiti cakes for Christmas, Ela Ada for New Year, learn more Spanish everyday on
Duolingo, solve more mini-crosswords, wordles and connections every day , read with you and tell you that I love you no matter what every
night.
