In Conversations with Danichan: Part 1

Amma: Danicha, it is high time you become potty trained!!
Daniel: No, Dani wants to stay diaper trained! :/

Danichan can at times be very lazy and occasionally assigns me to do trivial tasks as to pick up something that he needs. Although sometimes I give in just to avoid another temper tantrum episode, often times I act as a level-headed Amma and we spent a couple of minutes on self reflection and constructive criticism. The other day, Danichan wanted me to pick up his baseball bat from the living room. We were both less than a yard from it and there was no reason that he couldn't get it by himself. So I put my strict mom cap on and then the following conversation ensued...

Dani: Dani wants Amma to pick up the bat.
Amma: Why don't you get it yourself? God has given you two perfectly healthy legs!
Dani: But Dani has no legs!
Amma: Okay!! Then Amma has no legs either!!
Dani quickly glances at my legs..
Dani: No, Amma has legs!
Amma: Well, then you have legs too!
Dani (points to his legs ) : These are not my legs, these are my arms!
Amma ( points to Dani's arms): So what are these?
Dani: Hmmm.. Those are my legs..( realizes that was a stupid answer!)
Amma ( beams as she wins): So you do have legs and you can use them to walk over and fetch your bat!
Dani:(silent for a couple of seconds and then realizes the only way to take it forward is by starting it all over again): Dani wants Amma to get the baseball bat...

PS: I didn't get him the baseball bat and he later went and got it himsef :)

Amma: Dani, Amamma and Manipapa are gonna come visit us tomorrow! They are coming all the way from India just to see you!

Dani:Are they gonna bring the mosquitos with them too?

Amma: :/ (to self): Is that only what he remembers from his India trip?
